John W. “Wally” Hagerty, 69, of LaGrange, IN, died Friday, January 29, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Hagerty came to LaGrange from Valparaiso, IN in 1991. He worked for the Valparaiso School District in Valparaiso, IN in the maintenance department and a school bus driver from 1977 until 2001. In 2001 he became a school bus driver for Lakeland School Corporation in LaGrange and was currently still driving for Lakeland. He was a member of Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church in rural Wolcottville, IN, a 47 year member of the Moose Lodge and a current member of the LaGrange Moose Lodge.
Mr. Hagerty was born on March 13, 1940 in Valparaiso, IN to Chester E. and Anna Lea (Alt) Hagerty; they both precede him in death. On September 25, 1982 in Valparaiso he married Sherron D. Bagley; Mrs. Hagerty survives in LaGrange.
Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Christanna and John Eshleman of Houston, TX; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John R. and Amy Hagerty of Port Charlotte, FL, Michael Hagerty of Reno, NV, and Jason and Sherry Hagerty of Frenchtown, NJ; two step-sons, Charles Wilson of Lake Charles, LA and Alan Wilson of Valparaiso, IN; nineteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Hagerty of Irvine, CA.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church, 4860 S - 450 E, Wolcottville, IN 46795, with Rev. Frederick Cain officiating.
Burial will be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
